Ununlucky Day

Yesterday was one of those days.

You know the kind where nothing goes right but you nod your head with a tiny smile because it could have been worse.

So begins, The Series of Ununfortunate Events.

Samchon and I planned a trip to Gapado to trek Olle Course 10-1. It's an island south of Jeju, a ferry ride away and is known for its scenic barley fields.

We were supposed to leave after I cleaned up the guest rooms. But one group left late so we were delayed.

Samchon wanted to catch the cherry blossoms in Gasiri before he leaves for Seoul tomorrow, so we detoured to drive down the path but the cherry blossoms were not in full bloom yet.

We drove along the route with a magnificent view of Hallasan, but it was hazy.

About an hour later en route, he suddenly exclaimed "WAIT. PASSPORT. BRING?" and I'm like "hahaha passport? what passssspo- OH SHITTTTT NUUUU SHUCKSSSSS I FORGOTTTTT" and we sunk into our seats as he parked on the roadside for us to cry. Then I'm like. "WAIT I HAZ MY ID DOES THAT WORK?" so we called the port and asked and they said they could take a look but no promises.

His handphone crashed so we were driving forward while I tried to get the GPS on my phone to work. So meanwhile we missed the correct turn. And had to drive back a long stretch after the GPS started working.

We missed the 1pm ferry ride by 10mins. Had to catch the 2pm one instead.

We were hungry but Samchon refused to settle with cup noodle so he found a well known guksu place 5min away. It was crowded and impossible for us to head back in time.

We settled on a chicken place but they took too long so we had to takeaway.

All the window seats were taken on the ferry.

We reached Gapado at 2.25pm and found a spot on the beach to eat our no-longer-hot-but-not-so-cold chicken.

Started our Olle Course 10-1 trail at 3pm. Was nice! But we walked too slow and only reached the midpoint at 3.55pm so it was too late to finish the course to make it back to the port in time for the last ferry at 4.25pm. So we just sat by the coast near the port looking towards Jeju main island.

We returned to Jeju and Samchon was craving for jjamppong at a chinese restaurant he likes. Just as we reached the doorstep, they were closed for the day.

The sun set.

Well. It was an okay day. Although so many things went wrong, a few things went luckily right. I managed to get my ticket with just an ID instead of passport, Gapado's view and serenity made it all worth it, Samchon didn't get to eat the jjamppong he wanted but we tried a new jjamppong which (in my opinion) is the best jjamppong I've ever eaten. We had heart to heart conversations throughout the day.

Surprisingly I enjoyed myself and bonded with Samchon :)

It could have been worse.

So luckily it wasn't as unlucky as it could have been! YAY!!
