Moon & Stars

Call it delusional, but I believe the moon and stars are looking over me. Not just literally. But metaphorically too.

It's been 4 days since I've arrived at COSHE, the guesthouse where I'm helping out in Jeju in exchange for accommodation. Anddddddd I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!!

Cafe on the first floor and guesthouse on the second. It's just 1 minute away from the beach, which means I can see the sea view whenever I want! And from my bedroom, I'm greeted by the glorious Hallasan (the tallest mountain in South Korea) every morning when the sunlight comes pouring in through the gaps of the curtains. And on the roof, lives a magnificent beast, with the same name Coshe, which I get to help bring out to walk if I'm around :)

Best of all, I'm the luckiest person alive to be taken care of by 4 beautiful and kind-hearted adults.

My host, Denzel (whom we call samchon/sajangnim/oppa) is an avid coffee fan and roasts his own coffee on the first floor for the cafe. I'm really thankful to have him accept my request!!

He has 3 ajumma friends (but I call them unnie >.<) who work at the cafe and guesthouse with him. Byul (star), Dal (moon) and Pul (grass). They are nicknames of course. But when they were introduced to me that way, I immediately felt the connection with them~

These past 4 days have been incredible!~ They take care of me like Mothers and Father, and it's so fun to communicate in Korean with them and learn from each other. HAHAH they are very amazed by how I learn my anyhow-whack-korean from watching dramas HAHAHAHA IM ALSO AMAZED I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY SAY. IZ LIKE THERES SUBTITLES WHEN THEY TALK.

We went mountain climbing one morning, cooked lunch for us all, and had spicy chicken feet and beer for supper one night.

Today, I told Byul (star) unnie that I'm going to see the stars! At the Starlight World Park & Planetarium, where supposedly there's an observatory for stargazing. Was looking forward to it but when I got there, clouds started to fog up the skies above. So the guy said might have to wait very long before we can see anything. Most of the crowd left while I continued waiting.

And suddenly! A little gap appeared and a crescent moon peeked through. The guy quickly adjusted the telescope and I had a chance at it! Super cool! I can even see the crater on the moon! Thereafter, Venus showed up too and we got a glimpse of Venus through the telescope! But soon enough, the clouds covered up again.

Had to catch the last bus back so went home half disappointed. After alighting the 1 hour ride, I looked up and saw a blanket of stars, and the crescent moon shining bright :)

went back to my room, where I share it with Dal (moon) unnie, and showed her the moon from our glass window~

I love it when the night sky is full of stars. And I'm a selenophile, so seeing the moon always makes me feel better. And it's as if the moon knows I'm looking for her too and always find a way to appear in my night :) Now the stars and moon (Byul and Dal unnie) are part of my day too!  YAY

From the bottom of my heart, really thankful to Denzel samchon, Byul unnie, Dal unnie and Pul unnie for treating me like their own daughter and giving me the chance to be part of this family ❤

It's only been 4 days and I'm already emotionally attached to this place. Shall enjoy these 2 months of seeing the moon and stars both in the day and night!! :p

loves,
